Bobbie Jo is a very special dog.  She was found in May 2002 on the side of a country road, in a trash bag.  Not only was Bobbie Jo in the trash bag, apparently so were 2 of her puppies.  Bobbie Jo had ate a hole in the bag, and the 2 puppies had escaped and were running around in the middle of the road.  My neighbor stopped and got the puppies out of the road and came got me, and we went back to get Bobbie Jo.  She was in terrible shape.  She was severely underweight, had tumors in and on her mouth and was flea infested.  I took the two puppies to the local animal shelter where they were sponsored by a steel company in town for adoption.  The animal shelter said if they took Bobbie Jo, they would have to euthanize her due to her condition.  This broke my heart, she didn't deserve this.  She quickly won my husbands heart, (who had put his foot down to any more dogs since we already had 4 strays) so we decided to help Bobbie Jo.  I took her to the vet and along with her obvious condition, it was discovered she had heartworms, mastitis, a uterine infection, arthritis and a cataract.  After contacting my father and telling him the story, he wrote 2 local papers and they ran an article on Bobbie Jo.  Many people opened their hearts to her, and over $1000.00 was raised.  This money was sent directly to my vet in a special account for her.  My vet also donated the heartworm treatment along with other discounts.  Bobbie Jo was on her way to recovery and good health.

Its 1 1/2 year later, we still have Bobbie Jo, and she is one of the sweetest, loving dogs I have ever known.  Bobbie Jo lights up our life every day.  She has developed a special attachment to my husband, who during her worst hours during heartworm treatment and recovery, would sit up with her and call the vet at the slightest sign of trouble.

The road to harmony hasn't been easy, but Bobbie Jo was a gift from God, and we are very lucky to have her.  The person that threw Bobbie Jo away will one day have to answer for it, I have no doubt.
